About Us

A two year old little boy named Noah was the muse for Barking Hippo. I wanted to create unique and edgy clothes for my son, and as I was taking a big bag of old clothes to the Goodwill I had an epiphany! The "old" tees in that bag consisted of classic concert and brand name tees that would be adorable on a little one. Taking part in a more sustainable lifestyle, this idea seemed to be a no brainer. I could create items that were unique and hip while reinvesting in the environment.

Barking Hippo was created in June 2009 by Melissa Saunders. Melissa is dedicated to creating a line of kid’s clothes that are hip, cool and original yet affordable all while doing her part to save the planet. Melissa’s background is in Event Management and Sales/Marketing Communications.
