1. What is the return policy?
We want to ensure that you are 100% happy with your new Barking Hippo item! If you are not entirely pleased with the product that you received then you can return the item for a full refund.

We ask that you pay for the shipping back to us.

2. Are the t-shirts cleaned and washed after being purchased from the thrift stores?

Of course! All of our pre-loved items are washed in high energy efficient washing machines with earth friendly washing detergent using cold water. By using cold water, we save energy involved with heating, and the associated environmental impact.

3. How do I have one of my t-shirts custom remade to a smaller size?

All you need to do is fill out the form under the Custom Orders tab through the website, and send us the adult t-shirt that you want made “mini me” style. We will follow your special instructions and create the piece using the original material from the adult size t-shirt that you sent in, then we ship it back to you – it is that easy! The lead time is usually 10-15 workings days from the time that we receive your t-shirt.

5. What is the quality of the previously owned t-shirts? Are they in good condition?

The bonus with the t-shirts being pre-loved they are already worn in and more comfortable. They are all pre shrunk as they have been washed many times in the past from the previous owner. We look for t-shirts that are in good condition, but may have a small stain or hole on a portion on the t-shirt that we will not use.

6. How long does it take to receive my new Barking Hippo t-shirt?

Around 10-15 working days. Every Barking Hippo t-shirts is custom made locally.

7. Why are you called Barking Hippo?

Hippo’s are fun!! And picturing a hippo barking is even more fun! Bottom line!

8. Where are your products manufactured?

All of our products are custom “re-made” in Vancouver Canada.

9.What do you do with the excess t-shirt material left over after you make the children’s items?

Great question! Nothing goes to waste; we keep the excess material for future products that we will be introducing to our line of Barking Hippo threads. We will be producing baby bibs and accessories in the near future!
