I want a hippopotamus for ChristmasI want a hippopotamus for Christmas

I can not believe that 2009 is nearly over! I am sure that I say this every year… but the years do indeed seem to be zipping by. As I look back on the year, I have to have a chuckle, what a ride!

I have been so fortunate to have maintained my full time position as a consultant for Skyline BC helping companies with their trade show marketing programs. I can work remotely from home during convenient hours.

Working independently definitely has its advantages! I had the opportunity to travel to our family cottages this summer on Salt Spring Island and Lake of the Woods in Ontario. Both places are so beautiful and nostalgic and having the flexibility to escape (with my computer of course!) is awesome! Oh, and we had our first holiday sans toddler to Vegas with some of our closest friends visiting from Australia (with my computer of course!) – FUN TIMES!

My son turned 2 in July! My husband and I had our 3 year anniversary in the summer!

I played my last soccer game after 25 years of playing due to a torn ACL in early January. I have since retired from contact sport and am recovering from the replacement ACL surgery… I will need to stay active doing Yoga or swimming in the future as I have a VERY active toddler that I need to keep up with! Seriously… how old am I?!

I started Barking Hippo – Rescued Retro Wear in June 2009! This is a journey that I look forward to with excitement (and a little anxiety) to all the challenges, accomplishments and the HUGE learning curve that 2010 will welcome.

As I thought about what I wanted to ‘blog’ about in 2010, I came to this conclusion; I want this Blog to be an outlet where I can share some personal stories and experiences about my life as I engage in this new journey of entrepreneur. I know that this is not going to be all ‘rainbows and butterflies’ and trying to balance everything is… going to be interesting… but I will be completely honest with you and hopefully shed some light on the behind the scenes of this sometimes (often) crazy but satisfying life of mine!

I want to thank the following people; I can not express how grateful I am to have such amazing people behind me – thanks for your patience, support and interest in Barking Hippo!!

You! I look forward to getting to know all of my customers in 2010, and listening to what you want to see at Barking Hippo…more selection, different sizes… let me know, I am all ears!
